No, it wasn't Kim Chiu.
Every semester, I select a particular course on our course list and make it my object of motivation to come to school everyday. The motivation thing lies not only on courses but also on school activities. Most of the time, it was only during the last days of the semester that I realize this particular activity or class got me going. There would always be two to three interesting things that I'll look forward to so I can still enjoy what I would be doing the next day. Of course, there would be some topics or courses (like Political Science) that would drain my energy, and worst of all, take away my interest to learn more. So what I do is to divert my attention to a certain activity or subject and make the most out of it. And that would solve my problem of boring classes, nerve-wracking recitations, bad taste, and poor professors, er, I mean worst teaching methods. The problem is this: I'm getting bored with the course lineup, the units, immobility ---- almost everything because I think the University doesn't deal properly with freedom.
One, I raise the issue of the spoon-fed courses. I take it that I'm not within the UP grounds to take some courses piece by piece according to my preference but I really think it's a student's right to enroll in the courses he wishes to understand deeply. Those courses he himself thinks will make a better him. Two, I discuss immobility. As you can see, the Journalism department failed to get a newsroom. And no one tries to fight for it. Add the wallflower TVs in each colleges within the University with that. Obviously, the practice of Journalism wasn't really seriously dealt with except for maybe three organizations in the whole campus. I certainly think there was only one. And someone even regarded the program as a center of excellence. The most essential things we need to learn cannot be learned in the four corners of a classroom.
It all started after our Literary Criticism class. I won't tell exactly what happened because someone might get hurt even if that one won't be mentioned in this entry. I keep on telling my roommates the course was so useless (hope I'm wrong) and that the amount of readings was irrelevant. Okay, maybe one of us will be literary critics some day but I really feel like it would be as disinteresting as it could get. Maybe this is just the fruit of some boring classes I've previously finished last semester. Or maybe some professors who fail at letting the students grow as they learn the way they were supposed to learn.

I think it's okay to stay up late even if school's not yet giving us headaches. I arrived at our dorm early in the morning and planned to stay here while I try to fix my OJT in broadcasting. Somehow, I wanted the school to open because I gave up on the summer season already. Rain would never stop falling these days. And if a few days ago, I was cursing the hot sun for giving me sweaty palms; now I'm praying it'll shine again.
I attended a forum on the illegal mining in Zambales a while ago and I was energized by the heated battle between Atienza and a Zambales mayor. Other reporters were talking about how stupid it was for having both of them because they were only blaming each other.
During the forum I noticed a reporter from IBC news and I took a mental note of her outfit: black long sleeved shirt matched with pearl necklace, and a pair of jeans. At that time, I reconsidered my hopes of becoming a Christina Applegate in the movie Anchorman.
Argh!
The day was just too much of the issue's pros and cons --- a doctor came over us to talk about Calayan's alleged malpractice instead of a dengue update. Good thing my trainer didn't buy it.
One of my beats is DOH. At first I was really glad to have a beat of my interest. Now.. I really don't know if I'm still happy with it because some stories, although many are interesting, have the ewww factor. And as the grossness meter rises every meeting, I feel like I can't bear it. Might as well enjoy it, but I think that depends on the topic.
And the topic was the penile enlargement issue between the insatiable weird man and Dr. Calayan. If you don't know the story...well, you didn't watch Unang Hirit...I was really nosy listening to the doctor's blah blah talk about the issue my trainer and her fellow reporter told him to stop because there was a "17" year-old girl behind him. I was eavesdropping but I call it "indirect education." I told them I'm now a 20-year-old, implicating that I have the right and priviledge to indulge in adults' conversation. Well, I got a handful ---- of information about the human body specifically that of a man's.
Did I enjoy my training day? All I can say is I love to be an adult. Haha!

Yesterday, I imagined myself serenaded by American Idol's David Cook... He even sung two songs! Haha! No, it was just for American Idol.
I got sick on my birthday but David Cook's songs really made my bday a happy one. And Paula Abdul thought he already sang two songs because each contestant needed to sing two of any Neil Diamond songs. What the? I thought Paula's drugged... Anyway, I think none of them outshined. It was just the same night.
Maybe except for David Cook! haha
